Yep, still in LA...just pretending I'm in Jackson. It was a (slight) step up from Birmingham, and was our last stop, so I was more than happy to be there.

Day 137: Birmingham
Okay okay, so I'm actually back in LA, but let's just pretend I actually posted these on time. Birmingham was...interesting. It wasn't the most "beautiful" place in the world, or the most "lively", but I guess it was pretty historical. We got to visit the Civil Rights Institute, which was crazy to see. Besides that, it seemed a little run down and reminded me of a southern version of Detroit. Well, my idea of Detroit considering I've never been there. Anyways, enjoy my misadventures...

Day 133: Nashvegas
Well, I spent a grand total of 26 hours in Nashville, but it was a productive 26 hours. After scouting the sights and sounds of the great city, I got a chance to catch up with my great friends Jeff Hildebrand and Jeff Brinkley (also known as Brinklebrand). I used to play in a band with both of them at A&M, and they are still living the dream in the form of Manic Bloom (with a slightly upgraded electric guitarist). Check 'em out here.
After being mercilessly awoken at 5:30am the next day, we shot and shot and shot and finally left around 2pm. So I've made my way to Birmingham, by far the most exciting city in Alabama, and will share my many experiences here with you tomorrow or Thursday. But for now, enjoy my Vlogging from Nashville...
For Jake and Lesley Roberts...and their 2 year-old son Sam.

Day 131: Shooting!
As I said on Day 125, the life of the Wades has picked up its pace dramatically as of late. I'm now in Nashville – more on that to come – and Gill is already headed back from Seattle. I've been (sort of) attempting to document some of the shooting we've done, so I thought I'd go ahead and upload. This blog is about to become more of a Vlog for the next 7 days. But who doesn't like video? Now you'll know what it feels like to be a real life advertising superstar!
Also, if you only have limited time, I highly recommend the last video (a grand total of 10 seconds) over the other two.

Day 125: Skip Raines, ESPN
The busy-ness has set in, and I've been getting little to no sleep, but I did have time to put this little gem together for our fantasy football league. There's quite a backstory that goes along with this fellow, but here's the short version:
In 2007, Gill and I decided to start creating yearly "Draft Lottery" videos for our league's draft - modeled roughly after the NBA Draft Lotteries. They became more and more ridiculous as the years went on, and outside of the two anchors (Bob Schumacher & Amanda Canseco), we introduced several field reporters: Patty Gibson, Joy Bayhar, and our friend here, Skip Raines. Skip loves taking his shirt off for bathing and/or fighting, can't grow facial hair outside of his upper lip, and sports a combover a-la Charlie Gibson. There's also a viscous rumor that it wasn't Bob, but rather Skip who impregnated Amanda. Of course, that's merely unconfirmed speculation at this point. But he's a loveable character, and he stopped by to notify everyone of the upcoming draft in Dallas this weekend. Sadly, Bob and Amanda took the year off, so this is the only pre-draft moving picture content for 2010.
Enjoy.

Day 72: Cinnamon Toast
I know it must have felt like a month, but it's only been a week since I've last posted. In my defense, I've been dedicating all my spare time over the holiday weekend to a design project for the Westside Pregnancy Clinic. If you play your cards right, I just may post what I've been working on.
But in other news, we've officially passed the 10-week mark and Gill has started feeling (a little) better! I did think, however, that while she's still in her morning/all-the-time sickness phase, I'd post a video recipe of her favorite early morning Stewart-made treat: Cinnamon Toast. Enjoy.
I'm sure you had a hard time writing all that down, so here's the recipe in written-form.
Cinnamon Toast
by Stewart Wade
Ingredients:
2 Slices white bread
1/2 Tablespoon Butter
1/2 Cup Sugar
1/4 Cup Cinnamon
Early Morning Sunlight
Preparation:
Spread out bread evenly on a flat surface - flat surfaces are ideal for spreading any kind of butter, margarine, jam or other semi-liquids onto bread. Pre-nuke (microwave) butter for 15 seconds on high for maximum spreadiocity. Use an aptly-named butter knife to spread butter onto said bread. Combine sugar and cinnamon in a bowl. Dip a metallic, silver, or plastic spoon into newly-concocted cinnamon sugar and sprinkle generously over buttered bread. Store remaining cinnamon sugar for inevitable future mornings - this will save you at least 30 seconds, which is a lot at 5:30 am. Place bread into toaster oven on 350 degrees for either 2 minutes, when sufficiently browned, or when you hear that "just perfect" sizzle sound (you'll know it when you hear it). Let sit for up to 60 seconds before serving. Eat. Throw up. Repeat.
So there you have it. Easy, simple, and delicious. Bon appetit!
(And yes, I know I spelled "relief" wrong in the video. Please understand, I get terrible stage fright and spelling is my worst skill to begin with. There was no stopping it.)

Day 63: Bubbles
This isn't exactly a "BREAKING NEWS!" post, but we did find out something about our first child (Lady) that we didn't know: she loves bubbles.
As for a baby update, we're officially at 9 weeks, which, according to our book, means Wadesy has officially graduated from embryo to fetus! It's an inch in length now too (roughly the size of a green olive), which, to be honest, blows my mind. I mean, an inch is substantial! Ironically, olives make Gillean gag, which has also been a theme of weeks 6-9. But we keep praying it will ease up soon, and Gill has been an absolute warrior - was there any doubt she would be? I mean, c'mon.
Welp, we're headed to Toy Story 3, which is, in a way, child-related. But mainly I'm just in love with all things Pixar. Happy Saturday to all.

Day 1 (well, actually 58): Announcement Weekend
Oh, hello there. Stewart here. I'd like to be the first to welcome you to the official blog of the Wades. Since this is an invite-only blog, I'm gonna go ahead and assume you've met everyone. You know, people like Gillean, Stewart, and Lady. And on January 29, 2011 (give or take a few days), you'll get a chance to meet the newest addition, Wadesy Baby! So since this is Day 58, and a lot has already happened, let's take a stroll down memory lane, timeline-style.

Monday, May 24th
Gillean is late. And by late, I mean one day late. Not exactly time to start popping the champagne. But of course she takes a test...and it's POSITIVE! Considering last month's events, we're cautiously optimistic at this point, but pretty excited at the same time. Could the Lord really bless us with a child two months in a row?!

Tuesday, June 1st
Gillean takes her second trip to Dr. Blank's office. And for the second straight time, Dr. Blank is nowhere to be found. So she sees yet another one of her partners, who takes an official test. But to be honest, this looks like, feels like, and acts exactly like a home pregnancy test. Just costs about 25 times more (thanks insurance!). And the results are in: we're PREGNANT!!
Wednesday, June 9th
For two weeks, Gill searched tirelessly for a Gynecologist. Turns out when you live 1,500 miles away from home, it's harder to find a doctor than you'd think. Lesley didn't exactly "love" hers, so we didn't have a recommendation to go off of. But Gill eventually found one who sounded great: Dr. Nishio. So there we are, sitting in the waiting room at 8:00 am, waiting and waiting and waiting. Gill gets called back first, presumably to determine if I'm really the father, and I get the call about five minutes later. When I get to the room, I find Gill lying on a bed with all kinds of medical paper draped over her. And by her bed: the sonogram machine. I can't believe we're about to see...

...our baby! Well, according to Dr. Nishio it's a baby. To me, and the rest of us, it's a small white discoloration within a larger black discoloration. But then she zooms in, and we see it: the heartbeat. And then we HEAR it. We're too awe-struck to even say anything. It has to be one of the Top 5 moments in my life.
In fact, here they are, in chronological order:
1. Sixth grade church lock-in (C'mon, receiving eternal grace has to be #1)
2. Sitting next to Gillean Pearson at "You've Got Mail" - Of course, I didn't exactly realize the importance of it at the time
3. Our wedding day
4. Our wedding night ... booya!
5. Hearing my first child's heartbeat
Monday, June 14th
We break the news to our small group. They've all been praying for us since we had an early miscarriage the month before, so it was pretty exciting to tell everyone.
Thursday, June 17th
Gillean and I fly home to Dallas for Allison and Blake's wedding. The plan: give both of our dads Grandfather's Day cards to break the news. My mom and dad picked us up from the airport, and considering we didn't want the car to crash, we patiently waited until we got home to tell them; however, we quickly realized that Allison was waiting for us when Emma greeted us at the back door. We weren't about to steal any of the bride's thunder, so we headed off to the Pearsons.
Pam, Gillean and I are sitting on the couch when Tommy gets home from work. Gill immediately busts out the Father's Day card, and he rips it open. "Hey, Grandpa? What, is this for Papa-O or something?" Tommy asks. Out of nowhere, we hear a scream come from Pam: "NOOOOOOOOO!" She physically leaps over me and hugs Gillean with the force only a first-time grandmother can exert. About 10 seconds later, after reading the full card, Tommy realizes what's happening. There is much rejoicing and "I knew it!!!"s from Pam.
After a delicious meal at Houston's later that night, Gillean and I head home to the Wade Family manor. I casually remember the Father's Day card, and run upstairs to get it. Paul is feigning excitement, although noticeably skeptical, likely expecting some kind of lame iTunes gift-card. He opens the card, takes one look at "Hi Granpa!" and...
I apparently have no concept of a reasonable announcement decibal level, as you can probably tell. But my dad was pretty proud of me, and told me so.
Suffice it to say, we were all pretty excited.
Friday, June 18th
Ever since we arrived, Allison has been doing some undercover, private sleuthing. She's been picking up on subtle (only drinking water at dinner) and not-so-subtle (sending Stewart downstairs to make a video menu of pantry items) hints that Gillean could potentially be pregnant. But early that afternoon, the last straw landed on the camel's back. Gill decided it would be a good idea to eat Rice-a-Roni ... at 4:30 pm. There was no stopping Big Al - she let it be known that Gillean was indeed pregnant. And so we caved. As my dad pointed out, Aunt Allison is a bulldog. She won't stop until you admit it, so you might as well give in early. She was of course excited, and no thunder was stolen.
Saturday, June 19th
At about 7:30 pm, Allison Wade officially became Allison Wade-Ezell. Ok ok, just Allison Ezell. It was a great wedding, and Gill actually felt pretty good most of the night. But of course, Aunt Judy and Uncle Jack had picked up the scent of pregnancy. Gillean? Not drinking?! Well, that is pretty common, but they knew something was up, so we couldn't wait until morning. We told them not to freak out, they reacted like someone just told them the weather, and we all toasted to Wadesy Baby.
